The Bluebell Ride at Longwood

Course News

The Next Bluebell ride at Longwood is on the 14th April 2019

Stop Press - The ride is full so no entries on the day

The ride entries have reached our maximum figure, we must respect the Landowners who have kindly allowed the use of there land. Last year the ride was highly successful and early booking is advised as we have a maximum number of riders that can be accomodated

The Longwood Estate is located just to the South East of Winchester, a part of Hampshire combining pleasant woodlands with lots of tracks and areas where there are stunning views across to the Isle of Wight on clear days. There will be stewards around the course located at jumping areas. Directional signs will be put up to ensure easy approaches, those approaching on the A31 westbound please go past the A272 turning and go via Morestead to avoid the right turn on the A272. It will be signposted for you

The committee would like to thank everyone for there support from the riders who took part to the huge team of people that built the course and who helped on the day to make it all possible, and to ultimately raise the funds so we could make a donation to the Air Ambulance Service, to help make those amazing rescues.

We would also like to give a huge thank you to the Land Owners, for the use of their land and great assistance, before during and after the event. The various sponsors of the Jumps and many other benefactors.

The use of the Estate on the Day is By Kind Permission Longwood Estates.

What people say:- (by kind permission of the writers)

  • I just wanted to express my thanks for an extremely well organized ride yesterday. I have been coming for several years but I was very impressed at all the efforts that went into making yesterday possible given the ground conditions. From the fact that you had thought about parking, to the number of really helpful stewards on the course, and I know that the ride would not be possible without them. My friend and I thanked every one as we went pass but it is hard to say thank you to everyone involved. We went at a slower pace than in previous years but we had to think of our horses' safety (and ours). The organisation was second to none and the thoughts that had gone into making this ride as safe as possible (with all the walk only signs) were just brilliant. Many thanks for a great morning out. Kathryn

  • Could you please pass on my thanks to Carolyn. Tatiana had a wonderful ride round Bereleigh on my horse!

I also think it is worth mentioning that I gave a lift to a local friend who did the ride with her daughter and sister and they all agreed that it was the best yet.....they particularly noticed how friendly all the helpers were and how much more considerate the other riders were this year, they had a fantastic time and had beaming smiles all the way home!

    Thank you again
